Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Theme Parks
Hong Kong Disneyland
There’s just one theme park at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and it’s Hong Kong Disneyland. Like the other iterations of Disneyland found around the world, the original plans for this theme park were based on Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. However, when Hong Kong Disneyland opened in 2005, a number of factors –like details suited to Chinese culture, customs, and traditions as well as fresh new lands –make it quite different from the original.
Hong Kong Disneyland is somewhat small in size, spanning 68 acres (the original park in Anaheim covers 160 acres) within the larger 310-acre resort. Its design and layout are different, thanks in part to the incorporation of feng shui. At the center, like at any other Disney park, you’ll find Hong Kong Disneyland’s icon: the Castle of Magical Dreams. Though Hong Kong Disneyland previously had its own version of Sleeping Beauty Castle, that was replaced with the Castle of Magical Dreams for the park’s 15th anniversary celebration in 2020. The castle isn’t one found in Disney movies, but rather one that features colors, icons, and details that come from all of the Disney princesses’ stories.

Dining at Hong Kong Disneyland
At Hong Kong Disneyland, you’ll find plenty of dining options that cover everything from casual to fine dining –and there’s a wide range of different cuisines to choose from. There are a total of 36 different restaurants to dine at, both inside Disneyland itself and at the hotels of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
One of the most unique aspects of dining at this international Disney theme park is its In-Story Dining. If you’d like, you can take part in a few different immersive dining experiences at Hong Kong Disneyland. These include meals featuring flavors and dishes from famous characters as well as enchanting stories, interactive experiences, performances, and even character encounters. In-Story Dining includes options like the Explorer’s Semi-Buffet, which is inspired by the story behind Mystic Manor, as well as more traditional Disney dining experiences like character breakfast and dinner buffets.
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Hotels
There are three hotels to choose from at Hong Kong Disneyland, each with its own theming and varying amenities. Each one sits at a different price level, and though the resort doesn’t use the same value, moderate, and deluxe categorizations as Walt Disney World Resort hotels do, you do have an option whether you’re looking to stay budget-friendly or splurge with a little luxury.
Here are all of the hotels and resorts at Hong Kong Disneyland:
- Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel: A Victorian-style hotel filled with elegant touches as well as five restaurants and bars, plus an indoor/outdoor pool.
- Disney Explorers Lodge: An exploration-themed hotel set against an exotic backdrop, with incredible gardens to explore.
- Disney’s Hollywood Hotel: This Hollywood-themed hotel offers spacious rooms at a more budget-friendly price.
While Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is the most luxurious of the bunch as a 5-star hotel, both Disney Explorers Lodge and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel are reasonably priced. With different settings for each, you can opt for whatever your travel preferences are, from luxury to outdoorsy –and all three are just a short distance away from the theme park.
The Best Time to Visit Hong Kong Disneyland

If you’re hoping to visit Hong Kong Disneyland when the weather is nice, you’ll want to plan your trip from November to April. This is typically when Hong Kong sees its most temperate weather. Days and nights can be cool, but you’ll be visiting during the dry season (which is key). Additionally, you won’t run into issues with heat or humidity during these months of the year.
And, coincidentally, this is also the least crowded time of the year to visit the theme park! Crowds are relatively light to moderate from November through April.

Although it’s one of the smallest Disney theme parks, you’ll still want to spend plenty of time exploring all of the sights and details at Hong Kong Disneyland. You can do the park in one day, but we suggest spending a minimum of two days to cover attractions as well as entertainment.
How far is Hong Kong Disneyland from the airport?
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is pretty close to Hong Kong International Airport. It’s just 18 kilometers (just over 11 miles) away. You can easily get to the resort via public transportation, which takes about 30 minutes from stops via the Mass Transit Railway (MTR).
