On July 29, UC San Diego men’s basketballhead coachEric Olen announced the addition of six new players who will join the Tritons’ roster for the 2024-25season.

The additional six athletes include five transfers and one first-year:Chris Howell(Saint Mary’s),Nordin Kapic(Lynn),Maximo Milovich(Biola),Justin Rochelin(Oregon State), andMilos Vicentic(McKendree)will transfer to UC San Diego.Christopher Cox, who hails fromSalt Lake City, Utah, will join the roster as a freshman.

“We are thrilled about the new additions to our roster and believe they will be an excellent complement to our returning players,” Olen said. “This group will not only be a lot of fun for Triton fans to watch on the court but also be terrific representatives of our program off the floor. Our staff did a great job in the recruiting process in identifying unselfish and hard-working individuals who fit our style of play, as well as sharing a strong commitment to winning.”

Chris Howell, a 6-6 guard from San Diego, California, attended Torrey Pines High School and currently plays for Saint Mary’s College, where he has played more than 58 games. Howell played a career-best five rebounds in the season opener against Stanislaus State on November 6. Howell set a career-high with eight points against Santa Clara on January 31, and then surpassed it with nine points at Pepperdine on February 29. He was also named to the First Team WCC All-Academic.

Christopher Cox, a 6-8 wing and two-time region 7 MVP, was named Prep Hoops Utah Player of the Year, Class of 2024. Cox attended Cottonwood High School, where he earned 5a First Team All-State and 4a First Team All-State honors. In 2024, Cox was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American Games Nominee. Additionally, Cox succeeded academically in high school, graduating with a 3.8 grade point average and earning Honor Roll achievement every semester.

Nordin Kapic, a 6-8Forward from Vienna Austria, currently plays at Lynn University.
Kapic was selected to D2CCA All-South Region Second Team and named a First Team All-Sunshine State Conference honoree. He has appeared in 52 games, starting 51 of them.As a sophom*ore, Kapic scored second in the Sunshine State Conference, averaging 19.3 points per game, and fourth in overall points, scoring 520. Kapic ranked fifth in the league in rebounding as a sophom*ore, with 9.2 rebounds per game and eighth in the SSC with 85 offensive rebounds, as well as eighth in the league in field goal percentage (50.1) and field goals (172). Kapic was also named Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year in 2023 and selected to the All-Newcomer Team, leading the SSC in rebounding with 10.4 rebounds per game as a freshman.

Maximo Milovic, from Bueno Aires, Argentina, currently plays as a 6-8 forward for Biola University. He is a two-time All-PacWest Third Team selection and an Academic All-PacWest nominee. In his junior year, Milovich scored a season-high 24 points in a win over Hawai’i-Hilo in the PacWest tournament. As a sophom*ore, heposted a double-double in his second career start with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Milovich reached double figures in rebounds for three-straight games, while logging at least eight rebounds in 13 games in his second season.

Justin Rochelin, a 6-5 Guard and junior at Oregon State University, has played in 37 games during his career at OSU. Rochelin made his first career start at Colorado (1/20) and scored a career-high nine points in a win over Green Bay. Rochelin attended Heritage Christian School in Northridge, CA, where he was a consensus three-star prospect and was ranked the 51st best small forward in the country and the 29th best player at that position in California by 247Sports.com.

Milos Vicentic, a 6-7 Forward hailing from Belgrade, Serbia, currently plays for McKendree University. Vicentic is a four-time Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honoree, who’s scored multiple feats during his career at McKendree, including scoring 41 points in a triple overtime win over Illinois-Springfield and1,226 career points at McKendree. As a junior, Vicentic was nominated for Second Team All-GLVC and was named GLVC Tournament MVP.. In 2023, Vicentic selected to the Division II Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team.

These six newcomers will join guardRyder Elisaldez,who committed during the early signing period in the fall, making a new group of UCSD Tritons.
